The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden

If you love animals, enjoy connecting with nature, or want to spend quality time with family and friends, look no further than the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is the second oldest zoo in the United States. While it was initially founded in 1873, it opened to the public in 1875. The zoo is home to hundreds of animal species and thousands of plant species. The zoo is located in Avondale, a neighborhood in Cincinnati, Ohio, and occupies 74 approximately 74 acres.

The zoo is home to a wide variety of animals, including the Western Lowland gorillas, African elephants, snow leopards, Malayan tigers, and Eurasian eagle owls. It's also home to various reptiles, exotic birds, amphibians, fish, and more.

Habitats include Cat Canyon, Gorilla World, the Elephant Reserve, and Africa. Cat Canyon, which features cougars, tigers, and snow leopards, is an exciting experience in the world of feline predators. The Elephant Reserve offers visitors a chance to observe some of Asia's largest elephants. At the same time, Gorilla World allows guests to see black-and-white colobus monkeys and Western Lowland Gorillas from various angles year-round. Africa features lions, cheetahs, giraffes, African wild dogs, and multiple exhibits, including the cheetah exhibit and Hippo Cove.

Hippo Cove is home to one of the more famous animals at the Cincinnati Zoo, Fiona the hippo. Born in early 2017, Fiona was born prematurely and struggled to survive. She captured the hearts of people worldwide as they watched her overcome all odds with the help of the zoo's care team. Fiona continues to be one of the most beloved members of the zoo family. She has been featured in commercials and multiple books.

The Cincinnati Zoo also offers various events and educational programs throughout the year. One of the more popular events is the PNC Festival of Lights. The festival is the perfect way to end the year. The estimated 4 million LED lights, illuminated sculptures, live shows, and festive music transforms the zoo into a winter wonderland.

It's the perfect way to spend quality time with family and friends during the holidays.

No matter the time of the year, a visit to the zoo will surely be a unique and memorable experience. There are many amazing animals, educational programs, events, and attractions. It's no wonder the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden has been voted one of the best in the nation.
